About Jason
I am a professional artist and dedicated teacher with years of experience in painting and drawing. Over my career, I’ve helped countless students discover their unique artistic voice and overcome creative challenges. My courses are thoughtfully designed to improve your problem-solving skills, build confidence, and take your creative expression to the next level—no matter your current skill level.
I graduated from Boston University’s Visual Arts Program and then attended the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. After graduating, I returned to the Boston area to pursue direct studies with notable painters such as Nelson Shanks and Gary Hoffmann, both of whom remain my mentors and friends.
For the past 24 years, I have been teaching in-person painting and drawing classes, primarily from my own studio, Polins Atelier. I have also taught at several universities and numerous art centers in my area. After many years of teaching in person, I wanted to reach a larger audience. This course is my effort to offer the opportunity to learn from me through a variety of new methods!
Moved by the beauty of nature and our modern world, my genres of expertise include portraiture, figure, still life, and landscape/cityscape. I work in graphite, charcoal, and oil paint.
Outside of Polins Atelier, I also teach art classes in oil painting and drawing at several local art centers.
